Alternatives

Several options, and when to change nothing.

Someone searching for an alternative already has a product in front of them. Answering with a duel against one other product, ours, is answering a different question. Each page here names several options, states the cases where changing nothing is right, and carries the day its facts were last read from the other side’s own documentation.

How these are written.

  1. Several options, never oneA page that names only its own product is an advertisement with a borrowed title. Each page here names alternatives that are not ours, including free first-party servers.
  2. Reasons to stay, before reasons to changeThe cases where the product you already have is the right one are stated before any option is proposed, in the same words we would use for our own.
  3. Dated and sourcedEvery page states the day its facts were last read from the other product's own pages, and links those pages next to the title rather than in a footnote.
  4. Rows we lose are printedThe capability table marks the winning side with the same mark on both columns, and the count is computed from the rows rather than typed.

For an agent

An agent comparing products loads one file, not four pages. The whole dossier is served as a single Markdown document, with the reasons to stay at the same rank as everything else, because that is the condition for the rest to be believed.
