# Read Pinterest audience insights for planning

> Tier: recipe. Operating recipe: real tool sequence, core rules, known traps.

Audience insights read for the planning cycle, where Pinterest's demand-ahead nature pays.

**Intent.** Who engages the account: interests, categories, the planning raw material.

## When to use

- Campaign planning.
- Category entries.

## When not to use

- Treating engagers as buyers: insights describe affinity, not conversion.

## Sources

Required: Pinterest Ads

## Preconditions

- The account is ticked in the dashboard, confirmed via list_accounts.

## Inputs

- `window`: Analysis window. Default: last 30 days.

## Procedure

1. Pull audience insights. — tools: `pinterest_get_audience_insights`
2. Cross with trends for timing. — tools: `pinterest_get_trends`

## Decision rules

- **When** Insights show affinity categories the account never targets → **conclude** Expansion candidates, sized by the trends curve.

## Evidence requirements

- Every figure carries its account, metric and window.
- Anything below a readable sample size is reported as unjudged, not as zero.

## Human approval boundary

- The readout changes nothing. Any change it motivates goes through Safe Writes: preview, human confirmation, then apply.

## Failure modes

- Insights describe existing engagers: a new category reads the past, not the plan.

## Output

- **Readout**: The figures, with windows and accounts named.
- **Flags**: What deserves a deeper skill or a human decision.
