## Set up in Codex

Codex adds remote MCP servers from the terminal. Two commands add Get MCP Ads and sign you in through the browser.

One command, or four lines of TOML

1. Run the two commands below.

## Codex and ChatGPT

Both connect to the same URL and the same ad accounts. The cockpit and the views open in ChatGPT.

- Where you add it: codex mcp add, or ~/.codex/config.toml / ChatGPT: Developer mode, then chatgpt.com/plugins
- Sign-in: codex mcp login opens the sign-in / ChatGPT: A sign-in page in the browser, no API key
- Views in the conversation: None. Answers come back as text and tables / ChatGPT: Yes
- Reports and changes: Every platform you connected, each change confirmed first / ChatGPT: The same

## Security and pricing

### Access

Codex signs in through OAuth with codex mcp login, so no API key goes into a config file. It reaches only the ad accounts you tick.

### Changes

Every change shows a preview first and applies only after you confirm it. New campaigns, ad sets and ads are created paused, or as drafts on LinkedIn Ads.

## Questions

### How do I add Get MCP Ads to Codex?

Run codex mcp add get-mcp-ads --url https://mcp.getmcpads.com/mcp, then codex mcp login get-mcp-ads, and approve the sign-in page in your browser.

### Can I use the config file instead?

Yes. Add a [mcp_servers.get-mcp-ads] section with the URL as url to ~/.codex/config.toml, then run codex mcp login get-mcp-ads. A .codex/config.toml inside a project applies once that project is trusted.

### Does Codex show the cockpit and the views?

No. Codex answers in text and tables. The cockpit and the views open in Claude and ChatGPT.

### Is Codex the same as ChatGPT?

No. ChatGPT is the chat assistant, with the Ads cockpit and the views. Codex is OpenAI’s coding agent, added with codex mcp add, and answers in text.

### Can Codex change a campaign without my approval?

No. Every change shows a preview first and applies only after you confirm it. New campaigns are created paused.
