Claude on desktop and on the web adds a custom connector from Settings, then Connectors, using the hosted URL. Connecting Meta Ads and ticking accounts still happens in the Get MCP Ads dashboard. Those two steps need a person; an agent cannot complete them. 1. Open Claude and go to Settings, then Connectors. 2. Choose Add custom connector. 3. Paste `https://mcp.getmcpads.com/mcp` as the remote MCP server URL and confirm. 4. Approve the sign-in page. Connecting platforms and ticking accounts still happens on Get MCP Ads, not inside Claude. > **Note** Two actions are human-only: approving Meta Ads OAuth on Get MCP Ads, and ticking which accounts the gateway may reach. Meta's overview (updated 14 Jul 2026) groups tools into reporting, ad creation and management, catalogues, signals, help, experiments and activity logs. It is Meta only. Once Claude can call the gateway, Meta Ads answers through the meta_* tools the catalogue actually ships. 39 tools, 10 of them writes. A hosted gateway is the wrong shape when you only want Meta's first-party server, when the machine cannot reach the public internet, when you are on Free and need a write, or when the source is not shipped. - You want Meta official mcp.facebook.com/ads and nothing else: use Meta's hosted URL. - Air-gapped or local-only MCP: a hosted URL cannot answer there. - You need a write on the Free plan. Write tools are absent from the list and refused if called. - The source is not shipped. There is no X Ads. Microsoft Advertising is soon: OAuth exists, tools do not. ## Questions ### Is this Meta's official Ads MCP? No. Meta hosts mcp.facebook.com/ads as a first-party remote MCP for Meta ads only. It speaks OAuth 2.1 with dynamic client registration, checks a ticked-account allowlist server-side, and adds five other live sources next to Meta Ads. Use Meta official when you want Meta only, from Meta. ### Do I paste a client secret into Claude? No. This gateway uses OAuth 2.1 with dynamic client registration, so a URL-only custom connector is enough. Do not add a CLIENT_ID or CLIENT_SECRET in Claude. On first use Claude opens a sign-in page. Connecting Meta and ticking accounts still happens on Get MCP Ads, not inside Claude. An agent cannot complete those two steps. ### Does connecting Business Manager expose every ad account? No. Connecting a Meta Business Manager does not expose the client accounts under it. After OAuth, the dashboard lists what the token can reach and every account starts unticked. The gateway answers only for the IDs you tick. The check runs server-side on every call, including calls routed through run_tool. ### Can Claude write to Meta Ads on the Free plan? No. Write tools are absent from the tool list on the Free plan, and calling one is refused before it reaches Meta. On a paid plan, every write previews first: without confirm set to true, the tool describes the change and applies nothing. Campaigns created through this gateway are always created paused. ### Do you ship X Ads or Microsoft Advertising tools? There is no X Ads source. Do not expect tools for it. Microsoft Advertising appears in the dashboard as soon: OAuth exists, the tool set is not shipped, so nothing is exposed to Claude.
